Watertrain is pleased to announce that Southern Water is the first water company to sign up to the new Level 4 Diploma in Water Operations and Management.
Southern Water has enrolled nine candidates on the roll-out of the Diploma, which is a key part of their ongoing talent development programme.
A mixture of graduate trainees and existing managers started out on the programme at the beginning of September 2014. Southern Water intends to make the Diploma available to more staff members in the future.
Pam James, Southern Water’s Head of People Development, said: “We wanted a way of learning that covered all areas of the business. This Diploma is unique and different to other courses available on the market. The Level 4 Diploma also enables us to include ways of working that are specific to Southern Water, therefore being a bespoke offering.”
Designed by the water industry for the water industry
The Level 4 Diploma has been created in consultation with the water industry throughout the development of the programme. It is a flexible, multi-pathway qualification for all management roles within the water industry.
Claire Allard, Project Manager for the Level 4 Diploma, said: “We are delighted to have Southern Water on board as the first organisation to enrol on the programme. The Diploma has been developed to offer a qualification for all management roles within the water industry. It offers natural progression from Level 2 and 3 roles and has the flexibility for candidates to complete a full qualification in the area of the business they specialise in.
“Feedback from Southern Water has been extremely positive so far, with candidates saying that they are looking forward to the rest of the course and using what they will learn to improve the way they work.”
